About RYVOAN
Inspired by the natural colours and intricate textures found in the Scottish Cairngorms, RYVOAN captures the essence of the ever shifting seasons and landscapes. Connecting place and protection, my knitwear is designed to endure the very landscapes that inspired it.
RYVOAN aims to embody the ethos of small-scale production and slow design. Each piece is created with care using traditional and hand-powered methods wherever possible. My vests and accessories continue to be fully handmade on a domestic knitting machine, while jumpers are now knitted on a digital machine to help meet growing demand. However, every stage beyond knitting are still done entirely by hand, from linking the seams together, hand washing and sewing on finishing touches. This balance allows me to stay true to the principles of craft, transparency, and longevity, while ensuring I can continue to share my work sustainably.
Committed to Scotlands rich textile heritage, every garment and accessory is knitted with the softest blends of 100% wool milled in Scotland to ensure warmth and comfort in wild and wonderful places.
A bit about me & RYVOAN
After graduating from The Glasgow School of art in 2023 with a degree in Textile Design specialising in Knit, I re-started RYVOAN, a side project I had began midway through my final year of university. No longer having to juggle course work & Degree Show preparation I was able to grow RYVOAN into a small business, designing and making each piece from my Edinburgh based studio. With a passion for trail running & being in the Scottish mountains, I find endless inspiration within the landscape to be captured in the colours & textures of my textile design. I wanted RYVOAN to represent the connection between place and product, with the idea that your knitwear is inspired by the same rugged & beautiful places its designed to protect and keep you warm in.
Thank you,
wishing you warmth & comfort in wool xox
